How to Wash a Chiffon Saree at Home

Chiffon is light, sheer and easy to care for at home, provided it's handled gently — it snags easily and holds a crease if folded the same way too often.
Washing
Hand-wash in cold water with a gentle liquid detergent. As with georgette, never squeeze or wring the fabric — press between clean towels to remove excess water instead.
Drying and ironing
Drip-dry on a hanger. Iron inside-out on the lowest setting, or use a steamer for the best result — chiffon's sheer, fluid fall is easy to flatten or scorch under direct high heat.
Storage
Store rolled rather than folded to avoid sharp crease lines, in a breathable cotton or muslin cover rather than airtight plastic.
Stains
Blot immediately, never rub. For an oil-based mark, sprinkle on cornflour or talcum powder, leave for 30 minutes, then brush off gently before taking the saree to a professional cleaner for anything that doesn't lift.
